Purpose of going church.
Was thinking of church a couple of weeks ago. About the purpose of going to church and stuff.
Whats the purpose of going to church i wondered. And i believe the main purpose of going to church is to seek God's word. To listen to sermons preached by the pastor and depending on the "quality" of the sermon, we go off either happy or sad, contented or dissatisfied. And isnt it sad? that people / christians go to church, The House of God, to seek God's word and not to seek Him.
Take this analogy:
A friend decides to go to his friends house, at first because he wants to know his friend better, to interact and to improve the friendship. They became closer friends and closer friends. They played fun computer games together and stuff normal friends will do. But as time passes, the purpose of improving the friendship and wanting to spend time with his friend changed. He began to go to his friend's house on the purpose of wanting to play computers, want to play instead of wanting to see his friend, instead of wanting to improve the friendship.
If you are the friend, wouldnt you be upset? That your friend is coming to your house on the intention of wanting to play games, wanting to so called entertaining himself instead of having the purpose of wanting to see you and know more about you?
Its a very thin difference in the purpose of going to church to seek God, or to seek just His word. But it is a thin and defined line. Have you lost your desire to seek God? And have it replaced by His word? You can love His word, but its different from loving God Himself.
Whats your purpose of going church?
* My apologies if it is confusing. Couldn't find any better way to phrase my sentences. Hope you get what i have blogged.
