St Andrews Day Rehab Centre Pre National Day Celebration!
St Andrews Day Rehab Centre Pre National Day Celebration!
Yesterday was a day of great fun at my work place! We had a pre national day celebration with the patients! (For those who don't know, I am now working as a therapy assistant at St Andrews Community Hospital!) Quite cool right to have this kind of celebration even in a hospital setting! Though we just watch a video, sang songs, and eat, it may seem quite Sian to us teenagers but it meant quite a lot to the patients.. yeah...Here are some of the cool things that happened:

The nice goodies for the patients!

The super cute Mr. Teo and his maid (in the centre). He is so cute when he yawns! haha! Thats his wife on his left, Mdm Lim, and another patient, Mr Chua, on his right!

This is Mr Lai! He has been with the hospital for a couple of years already. Pretty nice and funny chap! I was teasing with the maids during the celebration about his bald and shiny head! haha! had fun! but that wasn't very nice though... hmmm...

This is Mr Chua on the left, whom I always attend to. Nice chap! And on the right is Mdm Lim, nice lady too!

And this is Pachi Haji and his daughter! Nice and funny man but his memory is quite poor. Once he forgot who he gave his money to (his daughter) and then my name just popped out of nowhere! He just anyhow said "Alex". haha! Was so funny! Has a very cute and innocent look when he looks at people! :)

This is Mdm See and her Burmese maid, Cherrybo (don't know how to spell her name). Very tough patient, health condition is quite bad. But her maid is so nice! Everytime i see she will be laughing and smiling. Perhaps because she sees all her friends here. But at home, can imagine how difficult her work is, having to take care of a patient who can't move or do anything else. yeah...

The lady in blue is my boss, Margaret, very nice lady who taught me a lot in physiotherapy and how to handle patients. And the chap sitting down is Mr. Tong. Very courteous guy who always greets people. Sometimes he asks silly questions too! Like, "You all sleep here ah?" haha! Nice chap! Will always hear his "hai ya!" when he walks! Cos its quite difficult to walk for him... yeah...

And this is Mr. Wong and his maid. haha. Mr. Wong always looks at me with that blur look when i am looking at him. Dunno whether he understands me or not. Seldom speaks and only speaks to the maid. yeah..

And this is the cutest patient of them all! We call him Ah Gong, Mr Koh. He is just so adorable! Though his temper is quite bad at times and likes to slam his palm on the table for no reason! Very naughty! haha! But he is just so cute! ahahah!

And this is Mr Tan and his maid! When I was going to take photo of him he will be looking at me, then when I snap that photo he will be looking down at the food! Haha! Frustrating but funny! Nice chap who always says "hero" when he saw me. Dunno why.. haha!

And this is my colleague, Fauziyah, who always teaches me malay!

Another of my colleague, Mr. Ho, very nice chap who taught me a lot about work too!
Thats all for the photos! A lot more patients but too many to post. haha..
In general, work has been quite good. My colleagues are good, work environment quite good too! On flashback, looking at the patients just makes your heart melt, that you really want to do something more for them. Even if their conditions may not become better, just seeing people and having people talking to them will have already improved their condition. yeah. Just quite sad to see them this way.
Please take good care of your health. It is quite scary to see people becoming sick when they become old, stroke, parkinson, fractures, etc. Must take care of yourself k.
The hospital welcomes volunteers to help out! Its not a everyday thing, but more on as and when you like it. Contact me if you are interested!
And seeing this patients really makes me feel how much they need Jesus in their lives. To have this hope in God that He will brings us through every situation. Even if God doesn't heal your condition, He will be with you till the end of time. Thats a promise. Thats the hope in God.
For He is faithful.
